Favorite Westerns

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Back to westerns we go! What would be a better way to get back into the swing of things than with a poll? No better way, which is why as you can see to your right a poll to cast your vote on your favourite westerns. I included ones spanning a fair number of styles and throughout the years. I decided to leave of the few that have come out very recently to alleviate the bias of recency. If your fave isn't on the list feel free to add it to the comments here and I will count it. Enjoy!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
High Noon
The Magnificent Seven
Once Upon A Time in the West
The Ox-Bow Incident
Pale Rider
The Searchers
The Treasure of Sierra Madre

Very cool that you added the survey Shannon, I am thoroughly impressed.

Something of an unfair poll as these are all brilliant IMO. But I have to vote for The Searchers as being the greatest example of a Western.

Here is the top five I came up with in 2004:

The Searchers (1956)
Once Upon a Time In the West (1968)
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (1966)
Red River (1948)
Stagecoach (1939)

However, I would also suggest that Dances With Wolves is more deserving to be on the list than, for example, Tombstone?

That's a great list! I still have yet to see Red River or Stagecoach.

I know a fair amount of people that enjoyed Tombstone, even though I thought it wasn't that great myself. I didn't consider Dances With Wolves... thanks for the idea!
