Film Fan Fridays for Friday May 2, 2008!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday May 2, 2008! Although we have a measly four releases this week they are all interesting films, and there are a number of festivals along with a special screening and a sneak preview to boot! Looks like it is another full week of film fun.

In limited release we have one lone film, Standard Operating Procedure a documentary about the changes that came from and the effects of pictures taken in the Abu Ghraib prison. Although this is an important topic, I don't think I could handle watching this highly acclaimed film.

In wide release this week it's great to see Fugitive Pieces a Canadian film which is highly charged and bridges drama with history. If you are looking for something lighter, Made of Honor is the romantic comedy of the week staring Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan. I hate to say it but from the trailer Made of Honor looks pretty funny, although I keep wanting to add a 'u' to the title. Our next release ushers in the season of blockbusters ahead and that could only be one film: Iron Man. There has been so much buzz buzz buzzing everywhere on this and I'm always up for a good comic based film so let's hope it lives up to the hype. I would say it's likely I may be amongst the masses seeing this one, how about you?

Have a great weekend!

Yay! Friday morning watching movie previews, I love it.

OMG, Fugitive Pieces looks so good. Just the quote, "To live with ghosts you have to live alone" gave me goosebumps. Despite it's disturbing subject matter, I think I may be able to handle this one.

I personally can not wait for R to come home so we can go see Ironman! I absolutely love to look of this movie and just hearing that music...fantastic!

Standard Operating Procedure is so important, I am so glad they are looking into this and exposing the evil.

On a totally lighter note, I fully admit that I am going to see Made of Honour ;) tonight with some friends for some silliness.

I'm very jealous about a couple of the screenings going on over there this weekend - particularly SOP.

Looking forward to catching Fugitive Pieces next week, along with a local screening of "Stone Angel". And yes... "Iron Man". Actually going out to the drive in for the first time in my life to see it. Should be fun. Other offerings that night "The Spiderwick Chronicles" and "Stop-Loss". Not sure hubby will want to stay for all three but we'll be there for the first two. Oh how exciting!

I'm glad you enjoy the previews Suzie! I hope you enjoy Made of Honor, I'm sure you will actually :)

Marina - would you believe I've never been to the drive in? The life of a perpetual pedestrian. Enjoy The Stone Angel! It's a wonderful film. Can't wait to her your Iron Man thoughts.
