Film Fan Fridays for Friday July 4, 2008!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday July 4, 2008! Today is one of those bizarre weeks where we have few releases with the exception of 'the big one' for the US holiday, which ironically was showing on Canada Day. I hope everyone enjoyed their truncated week and jumps back into a relaxed swing this weekend.

We have just one limited release this week with Savage Grace, the based on true life of Barbara Baekeland in a dark drama that has been on the festival circuit and now is finally in regular release. It looks rather intriguing to me.

In wide release this week we have a few films including Brick Lane which I thought would be a limited release but it's opening in 4 theatres, rock on! It is based on a novel by Monica Ali and looks like a compelling story of two sisters. Next up is the family friendly Kit Kittredge: An American Girl which looks rather cute and starts Abigail Breslin in the title role. Rounding out the wide releases is Hancock which came out just a few days ago to a rather warm welcome.

Have a great weekend!

I totally agree, you would have thought more movies would be coming out for the holiday weekend in the U.S.! Especially since more people are staying local and going to movies because of cost of living expenses.

I wish I could tell whether or not I am going to like Hancock. Normally I flock to any superhero movie but a crappy hero?

That Kit movie looks a little too cute for my taste. I couldn't even watch the whole thing, LOL.

Savage Grace looks fascinating and intense!
