Film Fan Fridays for Friday June 12, 2009

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!

Welcome to Film Fan Fridays for Friday June 12, 2009! A bit of a quieter week for releases, with only 5 films coming out.

In limited release this week we have 3 films being released and the top of my list is most certainly Departures, the 2009 Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film which trailer has been circulating for a while now and gets me all teary every time I see it. I feel like I should be more excited about Away We Go, Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road) latest film starring John Krasinski ("The Office") and Maya Rudolph which looks good but we've had so many pregnancy films in the past few years that one more just seems like... one more. Still looks worth checking out though. We also have the critically acclaimed Everlasting Moments based on the true story of Maria Larsson, a Swedish woman in the early 1900 with a harsh homelife but turns her attnetions to taking up photography.

In wide release this week we have Eddie Murphy's latest Imagine That which looks rather sweet. Last of the releases is crime/thriller The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta a remake of the fantastic 1974 The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. So many remakes, so little time. The original is definitely worth checking out.

Have a great weekend!

Thank you for letting us know about Everlasting Moments. That looks like a real treasure. I hope I can see that one day! It really captures the essence of why I love photography, photography helps people in the background connect and engage with the world around them. Beautiful.
