That Was That: Canadian, North American & UK Box Office October 30, 2009 Weekend

Michael Jackson's This Is It hits it big last weekend topping the Canadian, North American and UK box office. In fact, in Canada it was the only release of the week that even hit the Top 20. But seeing as it was Halloween weekend, spooky films like Paranormal Activity, Halloween II (released back in August!) and Saw VI did some damage all landing in the Canadian top 5.

I was shocked to see Halloween II up there since it was out so much earlier in the year. Why don't they release those movies in October?! So silly.

Interesting that Paranormal State is 2nd for Canada and the U.S. I suppose it didn't come out in the UK?

Really don't get the Michael Jackson hype at all but I guess there are many fans out there.

I think Halloween II went up in Aug because there was already a lot of October competition - and considering it got a bit of a second wind that is a longer release for them and therefore more moolah! But, seasonsally, it feels weird (just like A Christmas Carol opening ... this week!)

Paranormal Activity is opening in the UK on November 27, 2009 - I hope it does well there, so far this year horror films have done well, at least in their first week. It's rare something opens in all three markets at the same time.

I'm with you on This is It, I just don't get it... but apparently lots do!

So I guess it's good for Halloween II that it opened early, it got two big rushes at the box office. Christmas Carol is opening this week?! I hope PA does well in the UK too.
