I'm confused by Toy Story 3's nomination for Adapted screenplay instead of Original. What exactly is is it adapted from?

So far, all I've heard is people being confused by the nomination, but no explanation so far. It's listed as "Screenplay by Michael Arndt. Story by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich".

Strangely, if you look at the other nominations it's received, The Satellite Awards nominated it for Best Original Screenplay (Michael Ardnt).

Still a mystery it seems!

Actually mystery solved: adapted because it's based on characters from original. It's a sequel thing.
