The 37th Annual Saturn Award Nominations

I'm excited to finally share in the excitement of 37th Annual Saturn Award, which I was reading about everywhere last week but couldn't confirm the information on their site until just recently. But now I have and as it's the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films there are lots and lots of films I love on this list! Heading the way with the film nominations is Inception with 9 nominations, then a tie between Tron: Legacy and Let Me In with 7 nominations, then Hereafter with 6 and then LOTS with 5. It's a pretty epic list.

I can't help but love awards that include 7 nominations for Tron: Legacy including not only film & acting but also costumes & music (Goooooo Daft Punk! I'm also totally digging the supporting actress category which includes nominations for both Vanessa Redgrave (Letters to Juliet) & Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom), which couldn't be more polar opposite but both fantastic performances. Also thrilled to see so many nominations for Hereafter, one of the really under-appreciated films of 2010.

Double nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio as Best Actor in both Inception and Shutter Island, he's getting to be quite the genre buff. I'm surprized to see Ellen Page as Best Actress - Inception (where it's really a supporting role) and the reverse with Garrett Hedlund as Best Supporting Actor - Tron: Legacy (where he's really actor in this one). Although, I've only been following these awards for a couple years so I don't totally have a pulse on their process and nominees.

We have quite a while to wait for the wins as The Saturn Awards are held months away in June. I have to admit, a lot of my faves from 2010 are on this list so I will be anxiously awaiting to hear the results when it's gets to a sunnier month of the year!

Can't believe that Leonardo DiCaprio is still Oscar-less. From 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', the 'Titanic', 'Inception' .... just to name a few. He's my pick for Best Actor.
